First Cattleya Bloooooom!
I've had good luck with Phals and Dens here, but a Cattleya was the first orchid I killed in Hawaii, and I've only bought small ones since, and none of them ever bloomed. I recently opened up some new windowsill space on a West window, and...while I was distracted by prep and un-prep from Hurricane Lane, apparently one of my little Catts bloomed!
It's a Blc. Hawaiian Leopard 'Mei Ling' that I bought from Carmela's at last year's Honolulu Orchid Show, and my care has mainly involved me failing to water it enough, but when I took the tray out today I found that it had blooomed!
(Sorry, I am unnecessarily excited by this development. I love Cattleyas, and I was thinking it might be years before I saw one of mine bloom, if I didn't kill them before that!)
