Schunkeara (Beallara) Big Shot 'Pink Panther'

The 'Hilo Sparkle' clone of this hybrid has been around for a long time, and is quite common. I was unaware that there were any other clones of this one available commercially, until recently I started seeing this one around just everywhere. I broke down and bought one (got it from The Orchid Gallery. I love them and I enthusiastically recommend). It was in bud when I got it, and they've opened now. There are six flowers on a strong spike. They're big (a little more than four inches) and the color is very nice. The pictures don't do it justice. It is even more stunning in person.

I've included another picture with my hand directly below one of the flowers. I think in that other picture above, the perspective might make the blooms seem bigger than they are. My hand is further down on the spike to hold it at a better angle for a photo. The flowers are big for sure, but I think this picture is more accurate.

But yes, it's all around quite a nice plant.
