You definitely have great taste in orchids! Carmela's describes it as 'One of our best' and it truly is. I saw it for the first time a year ago at an OS meeting and had to have one. I keep checking mine as I see some buds growing in the sheath.

its a real mini cattleya....the flower is large for its size...about 4" square....beautiful shape and form....the plant stays under 10", not counting the pot....
I am going to get rid of all my smaller cattleyas except for this one I think....I just love those big standard cattleyas, and I don't have a lot of room....

I did the opposite...got rid of the standards and now collect the miniatures. The standards are quite beautiful, though. Good luck with the collecting!

Actually, at that size it is not a mini but rather a compact catt. Mini's are 6" or less. But thank you very much for the info!
Like LM, I gravitate toward the mini's .... the others take up too much space. I do have a few larger plants but nothing as big as a standard catt. No space for such big beasties.
Another similarly sized catt you would probably like is Slc, Tutankamon 'Pop' -- a gorgeous deep, deep red.
