SaraJean, that Epi was a start from a plant in a nurseryman's commercial greenhouse. It was laying on the floor in a white plastic hanging basket, sunburned as all get out. I was new to orchids at that time but, I recognized it. I thought it was a dendrobium. I asked a friend, who had a friend, who grew orchids. He told me it was Epidendrum radicans 'Pinky.' Subsequently, I took a trip to his greenhouse and brought home a little unlabeled Epidendrum nocturnum (now renamed ciliaria).(I probably misspelled that). Anyway, I didn't know what to do with it so, I joined the Orchid Board! So that "little" Epi is what got me here and I'm grateful. I'll be happy to send you a start in the spring. This is a picture of the whole plant stretching for the grow light.

Reason: spelling, what else.

That would be wonderful! I am just starting to take notice of Epi’s. I only have one so far, a hybrid and not even a straight epi, the Epc Rene Marques but I can see getting adding some more in the near further. They have such a pretty cluster of blooms and I love the way the reed stem types look even when they aren’t in bloom.

You got it! But, it is a big plant. You might like the dwarf Epi ellipticum. That cutie is only a few inches high and always in bloom. Andy's has a few.

You have some gorgeous plants! The blooms must really brighten up a cold winter day. The Epidendrum is very nice! I only grow miniatures and the flowers of your plants dwarf mine to the point of being laughable.

Thanks, Patty. They're only big because I have no impulse control, I need to stick to my wish list. 😁

I remember the days when I grew Oncidiums. They started out as a reasonable size and soon I would have three or four ten-inch pots of them!
All of your orchid flowers are beautiful! I am glad that you like the 'Blue Hawaii' as I think it is really a lovely little orchid.

That’s a cute little thing! The more I read about epi’s the more I want them

Here's a picture of mine. I got it from Andy late summer and it's been blooming ever since
