Oncidopsis Nelly Isler 'Swiss Beauty'
I was ordering from Seattle Orchids a while back, and they were offering free shipping on orders over 60 dollars. The two things I really wanted got me up to 45, so I had to pick something else to get to 60 for the free shipping. It would have been financially irresponsible not to. This was the third plant I picked, and I've seen pictures of it before, and I've always thought it was pretty enough, but it didn't make my heart sing, so I wasn't sure how much I would like it. Anyway, the flowers just started opening, and oh my gosh they are stunning. I absolutely love it. I think this picture shows the color better than any of the other pictures I've seen. It's a deeper red, less orange than I was expecting. It is just amazing.

All the clones of Nelly Isler I've seen are great plants.

Nelly Isler is definitely a winner. About five days after the flowers open, the fragrance (I think it smells like a Tropicana rose) begins (morning, only). Even better, it blooms two to three times a year, off of every new growth, both sides of the growth.
I just posted pictures of mine (it finished blooming in October) in this post:
winter vs summer bloom variation.
If it is hot when the buds are forming, the flowers will be a brown/white (not my favorite).

Wow that is a huge difference. I also like the red coloration better.
Tropicana is my grandmother's favorite rose variety, so I'm familiar with that scent, and it is lovely.
How much heat will this tolerate? I have a few plants (green leaf Paphs, an Odontioda, and a couple Wilsonaras that try to shrivel up if it is too hot) which I keep inside most of the year because they won't take our summer heat (high 80s, low 90s every day for most of July and August). Is this one which will also prefer to stay inside at that time?

It's so nice when that happens. Sometimes a picture doesn't do justice. Lovely bloom.

Well, for some reason, the board is not letting me "Like" your post, but I do! I like it very much!

I prefer the red, too. If you have air-conditioning, you will never see the other.
The orchid itself has been fine even when the temperatures have been around 98'F. With warmer temperatures, just be sure that the medium stays damp and that there is good air-flow.
My father's tea and floribunda rose hobby lasted for about fifty years (he still has them but he doesn't obsess over them any more).
