Here is a cure....grow many orchids so that your attentions aren't fixed on any particular one... Besides, orchids generally bloom once or twice a season. Is not much you can do about it. You are hoping the blooms would overlap from one orchid to another.

I too have a first time bloomer that I bought as a bag baby and is blooming for the first year, though had false sheaths for 2 consecutive years. I have 4 flowers coming. Seriously, I am so afraid that the spikes will break, or the kitten will decide they are toys! I know what you are saying about impatience.

I always stake my buds, usually there are only 2 or 3 to worry about, but 5! I will probly use a couple sticks, and tie each one best I can....these are big 'floof' cattleyas, so it should be interesting.... I think staking and tying buds would be a good topic for discussion on here! |
