Phalaenopsis Owen Holmes Male
Default Phalaenopsis Owen Holmes

Phalaenopsis Owen Holmes (P. Cordova 'Maria Teresa' x P. Marlene's Magic Red 'Red Glow')

The flowers are about 3" / 8.5cm across. There is just a hint of fragrance in the sun, something like Hoya carnosa.

I received this from Carter & Holmes on December 1, 2016. It has grown steadily and strongly. There is another spike on the other side of the plant that is about to open a bud.

It seems very vigorous, as well. The flower form is poor with narrow petals, but the color is very nice.

From appearances I would guess that a lot of the coloration characteristics come from lueddemanniana while the shaping is influenced by mannii. Some people are bothered by the petal and sepal curving of mannii, but I think it adds to the character of the flower and so love it. Were I you, I'd not be the least bit concerned by the form or shape!

I like it, I even like the narrow petals, it gives it a nice 'airy' appearance, almost like it has some arachnis in it.
