Blooming season - Take a look at my Den nobile
Got this plant, I think, four years ago.
It went through a heavy mealy bug infestation and, last summer, a spider mite too.
50% of the people told me to get rid of it, the other half to keep it.
I couldn't throw it away and decided to follow what someone said: while there's green, there's hope.
This is my reward for keeping it alive.
Not all buds are open yet, and with so many flowers, what usually is a faint scent becomes really strong...and it smells good.

What a beautiful plant! It is absolutely thanking you for saving it from the bugs and mites.

Thank you, my friends, thank you.
I agree also, it is a magnificent plant.
Planning stop fertilizing it mid August to see if I can get the same result next year.

What a display! It's impressive to see all those blooms at once. I only have one nobile, a compact, and it doles out the blooms a few at a time. I guess I need to pay more attention to the yearly cycle.

Lovely! Congrats! But sadly - as I thought it would be a nobile - it is just a nobile-culture-type Dendrobium. For I love real D. nobile!

I think it's a "Spring Dream Apollon".

Wonderful.
Rbarata, can you tell what condition it's cultivated?
Thanks
Giovanni

Hello Giovanni
It's sitting in a large north window with bright light reflected from white buildings in front of it.
Temps in winter are room temperature (my bedroom), except when I turn on the A/C (I go to bed and when I get up). This means 99% of the day it's around 10~12 ºC in the coldest days.
In summer it's somewhere between 24 to 28 ºC, very stable in this range.
Watering is roughly once per week, when it's hot maybe every 5 to 6 days.
Plastic pot with medium size pine bark with leca, coco chips, small size cork chips and some perlite.
I've read the trick for great bloomings is to stop fertilizing around mid august until new growth. I've done this this year, by accident, and will do it again to see the result.

Very nice, soft colors. Nobile dendrobium are too prolific to get rid of just because they look bad. They are quite capable, with the right care, of producing a lot of nice new grows and/or keikis to preserve the plant. Most people advocate tossing plants that look really bad, into the trash pile but I am a nurturer and find it a nice challenge to bring health back to a sick plant.
