Something is in bloom
Happy Thanksgiving!
I smelled something in bloom as soon as I walked into my sunroom, but I can't find it!
Going to the home of some friends for dinner later. They love to cook; this Thanksgiving it's a German-themed meal. I'm bringing this

My own heritage is Norwegian, with German and Polish thrown in. As you can imagine, being able today to avoid any traces of any of the traditional foods of my ancestors is reason enough to Give Thanks today!

Awhile back, we took some friends to a Polish buffet. They loved it! However, it was not even reminiscent of my Busha's cooking (sp). Also, when I told them what a couple of things were, they were quite surprised.
However, these are the things that make life interesting and joyful. I may try your salad..

I just emailed this recipe to a friend...sounds good. I'm Irish and Italian/Swiss,a nice mix. But my late hubby was Chinese born in India and for me Indian cuisine can't be beat-the hotter it is,the more I like. Hope your dinner was fun!

I found it! I didn't realize before that it is fragrant. It's fragrant now that the sun is on it. The plant is sitting on the floor of the sunroom because it's so big. During the summer, when the sun was higher in the sky, that spot didn't get direct sun. This is the first flower facing the sun since it has gone lower in the sky. When I took it outside to take the photo today it became even more fragrant.
It is Warczatoria (Wzt.) Heaven's Bank, which is:
Pescatoria (Pestea.) wallisii x Warczewiczella (W.) River's Edge.
This is a hybrid registered by First Rays in 2003.
W. River's Edge = W. marginata x W. amazonica.
Flowers are 5"+ / 12cm across, including the long, narrow sepals. This came from First Rays during the moving sale, mid August 2016. It arrived, in bloom, in a large semi-hydroponic container, where I've left it, It desperately needs repotting because the plant has pushed itself up out of the medium, exposing a 6" / 16cm layer of tangled roots above the pot. I need to divide it as well, because it's too large to sit on any of my shelves. It's been steadily blooming since arriving, despite my standard mediocre care.
The wall the plant is sitting on is 8" / 21cm thick.

Oh my goodness! I ate so much homemade sauerkraut growing up. I swear, it was every second meal or so.
