Default New acquisitions
With every intention of getting only 3 orchids from the Lansing Orchid Show this past weekend, I walked away with 8 instead. Not all are in bloom, but here they are.

First...
BLC Solar Flare 'Paradise' ( BLC Hawaiian Passion x BLC Sakurahima)

Second..
Cymbidium eburneum

Third...
Cymbidium 'Mad Tiger' (madidum x tigrinum)

Fourth..
Dendrobium obtusisepalum ('Stealth Bomber' AM x 'Sheila' AM)

Oooh Chris you got some dandys! Love the Blc. Solar Flare. Reminds me of Lemon meringue pie. How big is this one? That Den. is awesome too. I have Pot. Hawaiian Prominence.....maybe one day it will bloom. Sigh...

Hi Terri,

The Solar Flare is about 12" tall total and has a wonderful fragrance too.

The Den. is small and has the most unique flower. I included another view of it below.

That's cute! It would have to go on my "tall" shelf with the Epi, and my other tall Den, but it wouldn't take up much space. Do you know what cultural group it's in?

They all look healthy and happy

The picture is a little deceiving, and actually the Den isn't that tall. It is only about 9" above the 2" pot.

I don't know what cultural group it falls in. All I know is its name "obtusisepalum" and its parents. (Which I have not had time to research yet.)

Thanks for taking the time to look that up Dorothy.

It looks like the Den is going to get much taller than it is, according to that info.

If you are going to further your research on this dendro - try looking it up under it's synonyms stated at the IOSPE (Jay's Encyclopedia or orchidspecies.com) link as
I have seen it referred to as Dendrobium wentianum, also.
