Miltonia spectabilis bicolor on a cedar slab
Miltonia spectabilis bicolor. It has been in flower about two weeks. It is fragrant when the sun hits it.
This came to me from Andy's, bare-root, in October 2015.
I mounted it on a pad of sphagnum on a piece of cedar I sawed off a new fence board I bought at Home Depot. It grew and is now flowering.
The plant made three new growths. Two of them seemed to stop, half-grown, months ago, while this one continued. Does this plant tend to do that?

The petals...well, the whole flower is curled. Is it like that?

It's been open about 2 weeks. I don't recall what it looked like at first. The older photos in this thread are not so curled. During the time it's been open, the evaporative cooler water supply was interrupted, and it spent several days at humidity in the 30% range.
It still smells great!
I strongly recommend this plant to people in warm, "difficult" growing conditions. I bet Roberta and epiphyte78 can grow them outside on trees?
