Hello, my friends

This one is a keiki I took form an orchid my mother got as a gift. Her phals have lots of keikis so...
I don't know the variety name but I call it "van gogh", although is has more of Picasso or Dali.

I took it from the mother plant two years ago and this is the second year it blooms. Last year it was one flower only, this year were two but one of them blasted. So this one is what was left. There's another one, very small, which I have serious doubts if it will grow bigger.

The flower didn't fully opened and I've doubts it will 'cause it has been like this for several days.

This plant hasn't developed since I potted it, these two leaves are the same when I took the keiki and they seem to have symptoms of too much light. Maybe I'll put is a more shady place to see what happens.
The only thing that is developing are roots, which are also red due to the light levels.

We're the sort of people who post more photos of the pot and medium than the flowers!

I'm wondering how the roots are? I have one that I have been trying to save for about 3 years now and the blooms were like yours just did look right. It didn't have many roots and I had it in to big of a pot and it was taking it to long to dry. I put it in a much smaller pot and it took off. This year I re-potted it again in a bigger pot and it bloomed normal.

Any way just a thought.

We are orchid technicians.

I'll wait and see if it develops new leaves this summer. If not I'll consider repotting.

It's got a beautiful pattern. Did the bloom ever open up more?
