Default Leptotes bicolor

The wait was excruciating, mainly because I did not realize how large the flowers would be compared to the plant. The first bud to open was knocked off by the cat (it's still alive but no way to say for how much longer-the cat that is...) It has several more buds and should put on a nice display. I've moved it to a hopefully more secure location but the cat IS tenacious so I guess it's really just a matter of "time will tell".

Looks nice. So how large is your plant? I just got a tiny one at our society meeting yesterday. They were giving those or a different leptotes away as an incentive for early membership renewal. I have no idea how far it is from blooming. I know it's a small plant. Mine is in about a 1.5 inch pot and leaves are maybe 1 or 1.5 inches long.

Well done. I am going to get one of these. Now don't be threatening poor kitty cat.

Thank you. It probably would have bloomed a couple of years ago but between murdering the daylightsout of its root system (kept too wet) and not giving it enough light I'm surprised the poor thing survived. The longest leaves are almost 7 inches but I have one that is barely 3 putting out a nice fat bud

Thanks. I am likely a little way from blooming mine. Do you let it dry out between watering? Guess I better see what OrchidWiz has to say too.

I was letting the moss get crispy until I noticed the first sheath, since I have been misting the aerial roots daily and the moss when it's almost dry. Lmk what OrchidWiz says, I'd be very interested

Judith you and your plant should join us at the project. Some of us are using plants we already have.
