Dendrobium Nestor 'NN' in bloom.
My Den. Nestor 'NN' erupted into a modest bloom a few days ago. Only two blooms, but it's a small orchid, and the blooms are so large, cheerful, and fragrant, that they make up for it with personality. It had a couple of more buds farther up the cane, but they blasted a couple of weeks ago while these two hung on.
I aquired this orchid a bit over a year ago at an orchid show. It was in bloom at the time, and I was attracted by its beauty, fragrance, and price. I'm very happy that it has bloomed again in my care.
I'm enjoying the show on my patio right now, since these guys and my No-ID Cattleya (which may have been identified by you folks, see here: Bifolate Cattleya Orchid with White Blooms ) are blooming at the same time.

I recently got one of these in bloom as well. It is so nice. Good job. How did you care for it? I want to be sure I can get it to rebloom for me, like you did?

Hey Rothrock - sorry for the late reply! Thank you for your kind words.
I've been quite hands-off in caring for this guy. It has lived outside since the day I brought it home, getting morning sun for about three hours then partial shade the rest of the day. My climate is quite warm and humid, and it stayed out all through our relatively mild winter, where it didn't ever drop below freezing, but did get down into the 30s. It didn't get watered once for two months over the winter, which actually might have had a positive impact on reblooming in the spring, since these particular dendrobiums need a winter rest with reduced watering to initiate blooming, along with chillier temperatures, I'm sure it doesn't have to get as cold as I let mine get.
I fertilize lightly every couple of weeks after watering with a really basic orchid fertilizer (Miracle Gro Orchid Food Mist). Since it initiated blooming, I've been paying more attention to watering and fertlizing, since it's going to be going into an active growth cycle shortly if my research is acurrate.
At any rate, they're really quite easy to care for and to rebloom as long as you remember to cut back on watering and to allow some exposure to low temperatures over the winter.

Thanks for the tips. I'll be sure to give it a cool rest next winter. Do any of the canes ever rebloom year to year? Or is a one and done kind of thing?
