Species photos from a trip to a grower
Finally getting around to posting my photo work online...
Not sure if I can just post a vendor's name on a subject title but just uploaded my trip to Andy's orchids from last year, coincidentally I was just there yesterday... but probably won't get to those photos for a bit...
anyway, here's the link to the album:

Ohhh, thank you for sharing! These are lovely! I've certainly ordered enough plants from Andy's; maybe one day I'll get to visit, but this is a great substitute.

How wonderful. You are so lucky to be able to go there. I have not ordered from him yet.

Thanks for looking... The pics from the recent trip I'm pretty excited about, I hope to get them up sooner than later.
Visiting a grower is always interesting because you really get to see and learn from what they're doing.
With mass market growers it's pretty straightforward, things in rows all get equal amount of everything on rack tables, etc... but with species growers you can tell how things are moved and tuked in and hung higher... pretty fascinating.
And if I had to make an observation of all growers that's surprising it's the amount of light they provide... It's always darker than what you'd think... glass can be painted fairly white, or shade cloth looking like 50%, or overhangs of trees or structures... yet for home collections it's like we can never provide enough light! (or they just get burnt)
The other observation is you really do get the see the runts or the behaving poorly ones in a group... it really is better to pick out what you want there, at growers, at shows... because chances are if you have a plant that you've provided optimal conditions for and it still hasn't flowered or growing well, chances are it may just be genetically challenged... (but I'm all for loving them just as much, if you have the space)
