Well, the next phase of my spring bloomers has opened.

This Catt is the very first orchid I mounted after moving into our newly acquired place, a NoID picked up at a farmer's market.
It has bloomed several times before.
The flowers are 4-1/2" across, quite large.

Then, an Epic. Mable Kanda Myao.

And finally, the weed Phaisus' are in bloom also.

Going on to a non orchid tangent, the Thunbergia mysorensis is dropping flower tassels from the Geometry Tree.
This one is left over from last fall:

And, these are new and just beginning to drop through:

Then, the Lilikoi [Passion Flowers] are beginning to bloom.

Fruit will begin developing soon.
We like to pour the juice and seeds from the lilikoi into the center of our regular morning papaya.
The tartness and crunchy seeds go well with the papaya.

All lovely orchids. Must be so nice to live in a tropical paradise and grow orchids in your yard and drink passion fruit juice

One of the best drinks I ever had was a fresh-squeezed lilikoi daiquiri.

Lilikoi is the only fruit juice that I know of that you do not have to squeeze to obtain.

I wait until the fruit drops to the ground.
Then, I set it aside until I can feel/hear the juice and seed slosh around inside it when it is shaken vigorously.

The fruit has a very thick rind like skin with a hollow center filled with juice, seeds and a small amount of pulp.
You just cut it in half, then pour the contents out.
The seeds and pulp can be filtered out.
But I like them.

1/2 papaya + 1 lilikoi contents = a sweet/sour combination that will have you shuddering with delight.

i love t. mysorensis!

beautiful pics!

The other half's cousin lives in hawaii and was showing me all the phaius and schoms and catts growing freely all over her yard, it's insane for us mainland folk! She had a schom growing 20ft up into a palm trunk all long spikes and blooms, you people are spoiled out there!

Have always wanted to grow Thunbergia mysorensis. Its little sister, black-eyed Susan, takes our heat and sun magnificently. I've read about tropical Thunbergias being invasive. Is this the case in Hawaii?
