I have one of these also, one of the first non-phal orchids I bought. For the first two years, it only bloomed once per year and the fragrance was very light. But it now blooms twice a year for me, usually around May and it is in spike again right now. As the plant has matured, the fragrance of the blooms has gotten much stronger and is fragrant throughout most of the day, though the fragrance is at it's peak at noon. The fragrance reminds me of the smell of Fruit Loops cereal.
There is one thing about this plant that does drive me crazy - it likes to torment me by putting out flower spikes that abort after they get about a half inch in size. I will usually get two or three spikes to grow, but only one or two of them will actually flower!
