Cattleya Hawaiian Splash 'Lea' (Syn. Slc. Hawaiian Splash)
After about 16 months it finally bloomed.
This is a reliable, little tough orchid. It withstood a severe cold spell of last year that sent the temperature of my unheated balcony down to near freezing 4C. What a tough little plant!
An interesting note: the younger pseudobulbs behave like bifoliate cattleya while mature pseudobulbs are unifoliate.
I mounted it on a slab of skin exfoliating stone (huh).
Basically, it is a slab of pumice rock, with ideal size for mounting miniature sized orchids. I mounted several orchids on it and the end result was generally satisfactory. Thick rooted orchids really liked it very much while thinner rooted ones seemed to take some time to get accustomed to it.
