It's in my sunroom, which is a pretty good place for orchids in the winter. I heat it to 60 minimum and on sunny days it's in the mid 80s. A lot of my tender cactus and succulents winter there as well so humidity is 50%-70%. I throw a bucket of water on the floor most mornings to keep it higher. The portion where the orchids are gets sun in the winter from about 9 when it's over the eastern trees until about 2 pm when it goes behind the house. I have this Den behind other plants, because I've learned almost all new arrivals need to be adapted slowly to getting Arizona sun, even through a window during the winter.

Go to the SVO Web site (Sunset Valley Orchids) and look at all the photos in the Aussie Dens section.

I have this one too! And, it's in bloom right now also. Just started blooming.

My coloration is a bit different...the purple color is more concentrated at the outer edges of the flowers and it's more solid light color toward the center.

Don't ya just love this group of dens?! I have decided I need more.

Good job w/it!

I think you should post a picture so we can see the difference. I love how the seedlings come out differently. How long have you had yours?

I got mine early 2014 sometime. I'll get some shots once more of the flowers are open. The individual flowers aren't long lived but it puts out more plus I have a couple/few spikes that are still developing.

It bloomed a little bit last year (first bloom) but this year is going to be a much bigger show. Still a relatively small plant too.

My plant completed another growth. Three days ago I moved it back a little from the window, because the edges of some leaves on the new growth were a little burned. Today I went to water it and found it in sheath.

Coincidentally, today I received another order from SVO, including Fred's current Aussie Dens special - five for the price of four. These plants are even bigger than my Gillieston Jazz x Red Wine.

Isn't this a great den?! Mine is pushing a second set of spikes/blooms right now too. Great plant!

I also took advantage of the discounted special Fred had going a few weeks ago...adding 4 new dens and a mini catt. The special plus my $30 off coupon for renewing my AOS membership = awesome price for the 5 plants.

I didn't know the special was still going on. I missed the last one as I didn't want to order anything again in the cold. The last time scared me even though they came through fine the heat pack was gone by the time I got them. I think one of mine maybe going to bloom, there's something come out the top of 2 growths.

I keep going to his sight trying to figure out which ones I want. I haven't even bloomed any and I want more. My red wine one has really cool thick fat leaves that I love.
