Default My orchid blooms Dec 2015 to Jan 2016

My orchids indoors have been happily blooming in Dec. but I have not been able to post about it, had to be away for almost a month in Dec, for my mom. As painful as it was for the bittersweet ending of Dec for me, mommy passed away, Dec 23..got to carry on and continue appreciating life. And finally now returning in Jan 2016, my lovely bloomers are still holding, so going to share them with everyone

My first successful attempt in growing from the Cattleya alliance:
Bc Little Mermaid 'Janet' really love the heavenly lilac scent so prominent during early mornings

Miltassia Shelob Tolkien- returns after sulking for a couple of years

Onc Dancing Lady - also a welcome return after really pouting for abt 4 years after I made this division

Onc Sharry Baby - this one has really been generous to me, it actually started to bloom in Thanksgiving and held on up to this Jan 2016. The chocolate scent so welcome! It is now slowly dropping its blooms..still so thankful for the wonderful show it gave me.

And lastly my ever faithful Wilsonara Hilda Plumtree 'Purple Wings', I finally got its preferred timing of blooming in late Fall to winter..and it certainly is doing a nice show giving me three flower spikes instead of just the usual one.

I am truly sorry about the loss of your mother. I know what it is like. Hopefully your hobby will help you a bit through the difficult times. Looks like you know your stuff when it comes to growing orchids. They are all beautiful.

I am very sorry also to hear of your loss. It is a very difficult time to get through. Your hobby will serve you well. Your blooms are beautiful. I particularly like the purple wings, but not sure how it got that name. I don't see any purple.

So sorry for your loss Tarev! My father passed away in November and I cared for him (with the help of Hospice) here at home for months. My orchids were a real blessing to me during all that time...something beautiful and growing and challenging. I must say that I am still not quite over his passing, especially since there is so much to deal with in the way of paperwork/sorting things out. I will tell you that the good and sweet memories are more in the front of my mind now as some time has passed and some days are easier than others. I hope that time will find the same for you!

Your orchids are amazing and you have certainly grown them well! Thanks for the pics to brighten my rainy/gray day!
