Lots of cute mini's.

Did you know that your Onc. ornithorhyncum is really Onc. sotoanum?? They were mislabelled years ago and the mistake went unnoticed until a few years ago. So there are lots of pink ones out there called ornithor..... But the real ornithor... is a little yellow and brown flower.

My Onc. sotoanum is just finishing its bloom too. Does yours smell heavenly almost like a Sharry Baby? It is a grandparent of Sharry Baby and lends its scent to it.

Thanks, I changed the name in the post. I have heard that about the mislabeling. Wasn't sure about changing the tag ect. It is confusing really. So many names are getting changed it's hard to keep up.
I thought it smelled more like vanilla instead of chocolate, but whatever it is it's pleasant. It isn't real strong.

It's very confusing because more records show it mis-named still than with the correct name. even OrchidWiz has a ton of the pink blooms under both names. Here is one link IOSPE PHOTOS but they only mention the correct name in the Warning!! after the description of the pink plant!

Whatever it is they are lovely when in bloom. Funny more effort hasn't been made to correct this one's name. It's not just a matter of changing it from Oncidium to some other genus, like is being done so often. But its actual species name is incorrect and duplicating another less common one.
