Hofmeisterella eumicroscopica
Hofmeisterella eumicroscopica - it was one of my orchid dreams to see this micro orchid bloom with my own eyes
This particular plant comes from Cundinamarca, Colombia at elevation 2700m (not from Peru). Fantastic bloom on this cold growing species.

Holy smoke! Congrats! That is super exciting. Can you give us blow-by-blow cultivation? I've tried once but it was so fragile.

Naoki, I lost all but one plant, the one that is growing great likes high humidity and strong air movement, it is not so far from my aquarium fan. However, it does not like to be soaking wet and in my experience like to dry out slightly between waterings every day. Just RO water, very weak fertilizing. They like mounting but it seems like they should be mounted very loose (the ones I got mounted tight to the cork did not survive). The best mounting material is some small mossy branch with lichen. Another observation - very little or no moss under or over the roots, they prefer to be more air roots, or attached to the mount but not covered with the moss. Bright shade. I grow it very similar way as I grow my Telipogons. And, the last and the most important thing, is the quality of the received plant - the plants from Peru did not last too long, the longest living one was some 6 months, but this plant from Colombia is much stringer / better quality.

Thank you for the detailed info, Tommy! Could you tell me what you mean by "loosely" mounted? Do you mean that roots not touching the mount? Also, can you remind me the temperature you are using? My Telipogon is doing well at 68/50F (it will have the 2nd year of blooming soon!).

Once more you amaze me with a rare plant and great pictures of both- flowers and entire plant. I admire your growing skills and your selection of species.

Naoki your temps are much better than mine, I can provide only intermediate, but helping it "little bit" when putting some plants overnight to the fridge door (kept in herb plastic doze with moss on the bottom). It seems these cold growers like it. However, even the fact my Telipogons grow great, new growths and new roots all over, whenever I achieved the buds, they were just about to open and than they blasted. You should do fine with Hofmeisterella in your condition. Loosely mounted, roots can touch mount, but they seem to prefer when plant is actually not touching the mount, so even when the roots attach, plant is sticking out ;-)

May thanks everyone. It's not easy with cold growers, but, I have pretty fair amount of successes, just this summer 3 of my Den. cuthbertsonii produced buds, sadly, two of them blasted the buds close to opening, one did open 1 of 3, however there are some more buds starting now. Den. subacaule is in full bloom now, both plants, and also few of cold growing Lep. species blooms through out our hot summer. But I can't wait for late fall when temps outside cold won and I can throw all cold growers "to camp" outside as usual ;-)
