Paphinia Herrerae
I've got this one last year, and I was truly concerned about her because in the last year she produced just one pseudobulb. I mean: one!
But, surprisingly, she started producing a flower spike, and then, another one, and then, another one!
Basically, she has three flower spikes: one is completely developed, and the flowers are wide open. The second one is growing the buds, and the last one just appeard, so it will take a lot to bloom.
I'm pretty happy about this kind of sequentiality, but, probably, I would have appreciate also a three spikes flowering together

Oh Jade,I'm nuts for these! Mine are too small to bloom (herrerae and Paphinia Majestic 'H&R'9(4N) x cristata) but would appreciate your culture info. Slow growing for me but a nice challenge! And off the topic but congrats on the 2 Italian gals being winner and runner-up at the US Open Tennis Tournament in NYC! Don't know if you follow the sport but it was fantastic!

Hi Dea.
Yeah, definetly a slow growing one! But in the end she can give you this magnificent gift, so I think it has been worth the wait
well, I have to be honest, I don't follow any sports..I'm so lazy that I don't even like to watch it on the tv!
I knew that there were two italians at the finals of this competition, and I've been very surprising, because even I'm so lazy, I know who the Williams sisters are!

I grow mine in a plastic pot, with bark and coconut fiber. This orchid needs a lot of humidity ( it comes from Ecuador, where it grows in the rainforest, in a hot and humid environment), so I keep it wet, vaporizing it 3-4 times per day during the summer, 2 times per day during the winter.
It has no winter rest.
I give it a very bright light year round, 12 hours during the winter, 14 hours during the summer.
Tip: take care when it's in spike. If the water reaches the flower spike and/or the buds they can rot easily.
Hope this could help you.

Keep in mind that flowers are huge compared to the plant size. So sequential flowering is by far more economic for the plant. Flowering is always stress.
Congratulations for your big success.
