I have been keeping an eye on the availability of this species for over a year now, since I noticed through a google search (I do these searches to find any and all leafless species that might be available for purchase from anywhere) that a Panama orchid vendor actually has this for sale. Unfortunately, the order minimum is $500, so...will have to wait until it shows up elsewhere. Do you know of another source for it, or a way around the minimum order? Thank you.

Hi, I believe you found the same (only) seller that has this available, I got my plant from Panama when I did the import (I was over $500 :-)) The thing is, Gaspar has them listed as available but he doesn't have any sadly. Even when I was ordering these last year, I wanted soome 6 pieces (I was getting some plants for Marni and she wanted one too), there was none available, and than he sent me just one. He said he has only few of these left and he wants to keep them for him and hopes to propagate some in the future. I am asking him every time I do order, but no luck. Regarding the light levels - it is hanging inside my Dracema tree, it is at the part of balocny that gets strong direct afternoon sun till the sundown, the whole tree is shaded with shade cloth, and this mount is covered with Spanish moss, so even the tree gets lot of light, this particular plant is really shaded well. I have another 2 leafless orchids hanging at that tree, Chyloschista and funalis, they are exposed to much more light, still covered with some Spanish moss, both are growing great with dozens of new growths but sadly these tho has never bloomed for me, in some 3+ years I have them, so I am not sure what is the issue, they were in much more shaded area previous years, so I did move them to more light to actually see if this will make difference in spikes. Hope this all helps ;-)

Just to give better idea, took a few pics. First pic shows the Dracema tree, on the right side are Chiloschista and funalis, in the middle inside the Dracema is Campylocentrum, second picture shows Chiloschista and funalis, they are covered with Spanish moss but they still get some filtered sun through the shade cloth, last picture shows Campylocentrum covered with Spanish moss, it really is shaded well, through the shade cloth, through the Spanish moss and inside the tree.

Tommy, that is what I also found out about this species when I emailed the vendor, not available at all. Hopefully his propagation efforts will be successful and it will show up again at some point. Thank you for the detailed information on your growing conditions and setup. I am learning to use spanish moss more and more with my orchids to give shade, protection and humidity.
With my growing collection of leafless, some of which may prove difficult (or impossible) to replace if necessary in the future, I have given some thought to learning how to propagate the plants, since the individual plants do not live forever. To start, I would have to coax them to flower, then pollinate the flowers. Once I do this, I could obtain and store the seed while I find a lab to do flasks. I might even try to get the seeds to germinate myself, but I understand this can be extremely challenging.

I hear you, and wishing you a best of luck! This is something I am still not comfortable with, I did try to pollinate a few myself, but no luck so far. If you do get seedpods, let me know, I know few great people that do flask, so I can give you the info!
