My Phalaenopsis tetraspis-first bloom Male
Default My Phalaenopsis tetraspis-first bloom

This is not the original plant which I purchased 24th June 2013. After 4 months suddenly the plant was finished for bacterial infection. Few days later a new growth appeared and now it bloom first time. But when I purchased it that time it was with flower and 3 petals + sepals was colored. But now without one all are white. Is it for low light?

I think temperature and other factors can affect the patterns on the flowers. hopefully somebody more knowledgeable will post soon.

It's really pretty. Can't every flower be different?

The flowers will always be variable in the color pattern, any number of petals and sepals or perhaps large spots instead of whole petals, sometimes a solid white or almost all colored flower is possible too.

Nice save. Just keep growing the plant well and you will see quite a variety in the flowers over time.

Love this one. I've got one labelled as speciosa but it's the same C1 clone as this one (I understand whether this clone is speciosa or tetraspis is a debated subject ).

I've not got mine to rebloom after the blooms on it when I bought it, so really hope I can. How do you grow yours, mine has sulked since I got it last summer, no new leaves or flowers, though I noticed new root growth a few weeks back.

I have read that light can make a difference to how much red you get, but it's pretty random. I read higher light gives more red but until I can get mine to bloom I can't confirm that.

Thanks Rosie for your response.
I did nothing special for my Phal. tetraspis. She is in my orchid house with other phals. under 50% shade net. I put her in the east side of the house. My orchid house is east open so she got plenty of light at least half day time. Water her regularly. Used NPK 30:10:10(March to June) once weekly, then NPK 13:27:27 (August to October) once weekly.
I have no idea about the effect of light that really can change or not this phals petal or sepals colour. But now I transfer the plant in the north- west corner which is the much shaded aria to see what will happens with the next flower.
