Oregon Orchid Society show and sale! Many orchids in bloom here <3
Hey everyone!!
Boy, oh boy! I had a total blast today!!!!
I got up early- well before the crack of noon- to go pick out the best and loveliest orchids available at the show. I think I was one of the first 10 or 15 people to get into the venue, and I took home some beauties, and crossed two dendrobiums off my wishlist.
So guys, I know that I can certainly not take credit for any of these blooms, but there are plenty of blooms to see in my video.
Without further ado, the Oregon Orchid Society 2015 show and sale:
I have Dendrobium lamyaiae, which is pretty much the same as unicum. Mine smells like crayon. not good. lol
Flower shape is so unique. I love the waxy orange color on them.
I have had mine for about three years and it's still about 3 inch tall although each new cane has been bigger than the preivous one. When in bloom, flowers cover the entire plant. haha
I have seen some tall unicum but most were quite small like my lamyaiae. So it's interesting you have two unicum, one small and one tall.
Mine blooms around June off of leafless canes.
It just started a new growth for this year and I wonder how much taller it will grow.
Dendrobium antennatum can stay in bloom for much of the year. Flowers are long lasting and the plant can continue on making new ones. You have to keep it warm year around to do this though.
The little spikes on your plant will elongate and may make lots of little flowers. definitely a unique plant!
I love Apple Blossom! You got a good one. There is also a yellow version of this, which I also like.
Wonderful Astrid! I love the orchids you purchased. I wished Denver or the Springs area would have more shows. They only have two a year
I'm having only three this year in my area, and one was a quite small local one.
And they're all within two months of each other!!
I think I will get too spoiled this year because the Portland Orchid Society is going to be hosting the AOS show and sale this year, which is no doubt going to be spectacular!!
Oh man, though, I have to save so much money for this XD
Back to cleaning houses for me!! Gotta fund my orchid acquisition disorder
None of my purchases are in bloom, but I would like to post pictures, so I can compare how they grow over time. I need to figure out how to load pics to my computer.
Think I will wait for a time of day with more light. maybe tomorrow, since it is raining outside today.
