Hello everyone!
I posted this in the miniature forum, and thought I would go ahead and post it here too.
I ordered this little guy (Dendrobium oligophyllum) a couple of weeks ago from a favorite seller and when it arrived it had the tiniest bud formed. I just figured it would blast and drop, so I really didn't pay much attention to it, just set it in my fogger tank and actually kind of forgot it.
Well, I was rooting around in the tank today (actually trying to find room for a new Aerangis fastuosum with a bloom spike that had just arrived...I am SO addicted.) and saw that tiny Dendrobium bud had developed and opened into a tiny little bloom - only 1 bloom on a very short cane this bloom cycle, but I couldn't be happier if it were 100 - Well, maybe I would be a little bit happier.... . I thought I would share the tiny beauty with you. Hope you enjoy!

Gorgeous!
Mine thrived, bloomed, and then I let it die. Still regret that

I have done that - in fact, just today I had to finally resign myself to the reality that my original Sophronitis coccinea was dead. It was really a nice, reliable bloomer, but it was totally neglected when my parents passed, as I was not home to care for it. What was left had nice looking little growth tips emerging, but all the roots are dead and the rhizome is totally dried up, so finally I put it to rest this afternoon. Then, I found the little Dendrobium.....and now I have more space for new additions!
But, I do regret the Soph. is gone....

Beautiful plant and I think when all the buds will mature and blooms it’ll look lovely.

Really cute. To bad about the Sophronitis. I would be sick.

Thanks everyone - and yes, it is small AND wonderful! I was hoping it would be appreciated.
I am afraid that the only bloom it has is the one - but when the next shoot arises, I am hoping it will be a large on as they bloom on practically every node - the more nodes, the more blooms!
Have a great week!
And yes, I am pretty upset over the Soph. coccinea - I LOVED that little one and it performed so well, but my family comes first (yes, even over orchids!) and I had to be with them over the last two years a lot. So, another one had to go on the compost pile....and it was with a pretty heavy heart that I carried it there, let me tell you!
