Default Dracula niesseniae

Dracula niesseniae - another orchid dream came true! Grown outside, in shade, keeping moist at all times, only rain or RO water, regular fertilizing. This Dracula comes from Colombia, and is one of a few Draculas blooming with multiple buds on the same spike at the same time. I LOVE MONKEY ORCHIDS!

Wait wait wait. Hold up. Did you just say that you're growing this Drac outside in Florida?????? How do you provide the temperature drop at night to keep the plant happy in the heat? Is it just naturally warmth tolerant then? The leaves look pretty big for the flower but the flowers still look great!

Kevinator, this is warm to cool growing,it came from Colombia. Our fall/winter and early spring is pretty wild nowadays, having may days with huge drops, so it does enjoy outside very much! Summers are crytical for all these species, but keeping it in very shady location with good airr circulation, and moist helps them to survive the hottest months. This is so far first and only Dracula from all warm tolerant species that did produce spike and did finish all the way to blooming, I do grow outside also lotax and cordobae, both growing amazingly great, but when they did send spike, it did grow for weeks and than always died.
