Sophronitis coccinea 'Round'
Hello everyone:
I just received this little guy from a seller in California; it arrived with the bloom in great shape and even if I can't take credit for inducing the flower, I thought I would show off a little! In natural light it has a really nice Cardinal red color but this photo was taken under a grow light, and it appears very pink. I have found it really difficult to take an "honest" pic of Soph's - either with my phone or camera, under natural or artificial light, the color rarely seems to match the bloom for some reason (with respect to the fact that cell phones are not high quality cameras and the camera I have is certainly not professional quality).
Anyway, I thought you would enjoy this little guy; I do!
Thanks for looking!

Nice! I like the vibrant colors on red catts.

Wonderful!
Reds/Purples can be really difficult to capture accurately, and bear in mind it's not just the camera but the monitor you are viewing it on that can affect the colour. I didn't manage to get accurate shots of Reds/Purples until hubby got a mid range DSLR. His latest camera does better than the previous DSLR. But even then if I view the pics on one of our laptops they look off, and on the other and on the TV screen they look right.

Yes I think they are very cute as well. I don't have one but may in the future. I do have some hybrids but I guess I don't know what Sophs are in them.

Right now I have only Soph. coccinea, but I really want Soph. cernua, violacea and brevipedunculata, but they will have to wait until I pay off my current debt!
Thanks for looking!!!!

I've got S. cernua and want S. coccinea. Not familiar with the others.
Funny how things work.
