Cattleya / Laelia liliputana
Cattleya / Laelia liliputana - the cutest miniature Cat I've ever seen! Grown outside year round, bright shade, can stand our hot summer without skipping a beat and enjoys all the colds we get in the winter!

I've been infatuated with this species for some time - hopefully some day I will get one! ;p

Tommy, that is an adorable little plant. I once had one that I cherished and it grew quite well and looked terrific but never bloomed. A rat got in my greenhouse one night and had it for a midnight snack. There was nothing left above the media level. It never recovered. There is a classic picture somewhere on the web of one with a very worn book and an old pair of specs. It would make a great oil painting.

What medium are you growing in, Tommy? Mine is in pebbles and aliflor, and not doing so well. I tend to under-water, and suspect that rocks and aliflor are not the best medium for me to have this one in.

Many thanks, I give credit to our extreme cold winter and all the freezing fronts, they damaged some, but made bloom many others I would never seen blooming otherwise ;-)

Beth I used to have it in stone mix kind of media, but it is in small bark chips and perlite now and seems to do better!

This is fantastic!! Are you saying it requires a cold rest to bloom? If so, then it would probably not be a good terrarium candidate???
