Christmas shopping at Marlow's Orchids

we took the all day trip to Orchids by Marlow this weekend. got 4 new orchids to bring home. Paph fairly sauced , in bloom ; Howeara lave burst, in spike, mounted, my first try at a mounted orchid ; Tulumnia, no tag so I don't know it's name, also in spike ; and my Nelly Isler that I have been wanting for a while. she is not in spike, so I got a nice discount on her. Jim and Mike are great guys, fun to talk with and had cookies and cider at their open house this past weekend. (they're doing it again this coming weekend )

I told my hubby they are probably the most expensive orchids I ever bought if you add in the $60 worth of gas, the $20 worth of thruway tolls, and the 2 meals we ate out. LOL LOL Good prices on the orchids, though.

It is pretty fun to make a day of it, though. Marlow is pretty good and if it was closer, I would do the same. They sometimes attend the OSWP show (in Pittsburgh) and I have bought very healthy orchids from them.

I live in South Florida an have only dealt with Jim by email. I ordered two orchids, one of them will not be in until after the first of the year. The other he has in stock but does not meet his requirement of quality and he will not ship, that to me shows great quality of an online company!

Very fair. when I told him I wanted the Nelly Isler, he told me that they didn't look the greatest, but, if I wanted to mess with one he'd give me a good discount. I thought they looked better than some of the other plants I got online from other places.

Aren't they the best!! It's so cool there. I live no more than 20 mins from them and go there at least once a month and still manage to walk into my greenhouse with more chids every dang time!! It's ok tho

Man, I would love to be that close. Well, maybe not It was an all day trip for us. Figure about $60 worth of gas, $20 for thruway tolls, and 2 meals out. Wow, I will never complain about shipping fees again
