Is that a Sheffelera? (Sp?) at first i thought it was plumeria...if it is plumeria, what do you do when the leaves drop? Not too sunny? And are they mounted at the base? So many questions! LOL. That is SO awesome! Thanks for the eye candy!!

Edit: It IS plumeria!! I looked again and saw the flowers. That's friggin awesome!!

Yes it is! it's a Singapore White. Most orchids are growing on the the plant itself. The oncidium however is growing around the base. What I've done is this, chunks of polystyrene and some large rocks on the very base of the pot, followed by 50% soil with 50% sand in the primary mix which keeps the frangipanni (plumeria) happy and topped it off with 10cm (5in) of coconut and wood chip mix for the oncidium. So it is very free flowing watering wise which keeps the frangipanni happy and never a problem with rot for the oncidium.

So far as sun exposure goes, one of my Bc Yellow Birds has very purple leaves due to being at the very top but other than that, it's all good.

Thank you for sharing this...I have some frangipani that's not very happy where previous owners put them...I'm gonna dig 'em up and pot them as you've described and see what happens!!

Imitation is the highest form of flattery, you know!!

If you have a hard time trying to dig it up may i suggest you take a cutting instead? Make sure you take it on a sharp angle and cut existing leaves off.

There's a few effective ways of making them take but i just jam them straight into the potting mix which works fine for me. some people insist on drying them out but I'm impatient.
