I have been able to cut off a part of it, and stick it into the media. I have read that the roots are inside those sheaths.
It used to look like this when I first got it in Feb 2013:
Then I got this container which has a back side, and I repotted it in May 2013, I cut off a portion of the climbing stem, and stuck it to the bark mix in lower right side.

The backside of the container helps to support it. I am letting it go where it wants for now.
