Thought I would share a few plants I purchased at the AOS (Alberta Orchid Society) show. I found the venue a great change from last year as it was a little overwhelming in such a small place. And this venue was beautiful. I took a few people with me this year who are new to the hobby so I still got a little overwhelmed by questions and arm grabs from here to there lol.
I didn't get to really look through and find some things on my "hit" list that I hoped I had fine but it was fun introducing people to the hobby. I did grab a few last minute grabs though and one thing I was searching for.
Miltoniopsis Andrea West " HOF"
Love this orchid! I already had Andrea West "Wild Wild West": But I find this cultivar much nicer with larger flowers and a stronger contrast in the blushing and mask.
Sedirea japonica
First time I have ever bothered with one of these but I am really enjoying it now that all the buds have opened the lemon scent is amazing in the morning.
NOID oncidium..yes I bought a noid at an orchid show..by accident...It was actually labelled as Burrageara Stenfan Isler which should have triggered something in my brain as I already have this orchid..and it looks nothing like this..but It was a long day and I didn't realize till i had drove the 2 hours home that It was mis-labelled. Smells wonderful Like chocolate and or vanilla. Think it could be a Sherry Baby , But again I do have a "Sweet Fragrance" and they are much more red than this.
I also Finally found a Psychopsis mendenhall!! so I at least found one thing on my list! Its small but I'm excited to give it a go.
( I take no credit for the blooms, but give the growers at the show a big thumbs up there were a lot of beautiful well grown plants!1)
