Taiwan International Orchid Show - My best orchids

These are my five favourite plants from the show.....the one I picked for second place when it was my turn to vote actually came first so I was just off but I wasn't the only one.

Anyway here is the gallery:


1st - Paph Wossner Black Wings - phenomenal flowers and massive.



2nd - This actually got first - Phal Sogo Yukidian - 2 spikes and 58 flowers.





3rd - Rhy. gigantea - what an amazing specimen! (this plant was bigger than me).



4th - Phal amabilis - not bad really.......yes I must be fussy.



5th - Den Beauty Sunset x Polka

It's a wonderful thing. Second time I have been and already planning to judge again next year. Some of my friends from Australia have been 10 or more times there. It's a culture shock but a good one.

Yesterday a collegue brought in their Phal to ask me advice on. I gave some advice at lunchtime then started reading orchid forums. I decided to show her the picture of Phal amabilis you have above with the comment "This is what you are aiming for"... her draw dropped open

I must admit mine did too when I first saw that. To me it's even more stunning than the very formal style of the Phal Sogo Yukidian above it.

I love them all though. They seem to get such stunning Phals out there!
