Id be scared of contamination, bacteria/fungi infestation....etc....Id still water them in the sink or in the bathroom shower....those guys had no access to a hose that's why they dunked them in a pond....notice they dumped the flowering Vandas in a box and didn't care for the ones at the bottom being crushed.

These vandas were displayed in the outdoor trees in the area of Thailand. They seemed not to be crashed.

Notice how thin their roots are - this is a sign of very high humidity the rest of the time. Vandas in N. A. have roots 4x as thick, just so that they can absorb what little moisture we have in the air.
