Default Looking for sunshine

Just a group of Paph. spicerianums grown at the window searching for a bit of Michigan winter sunshine. All these originated with one plant many years ago.

You have large specimen sized....it is a great sight to see several flowers on that window sill.

You should have seen it before I had to re-pot it this summer. Unfortunately, it was growing as two distinct clumps with dead or dying stuff in the middle, so I had to divide it.

Winter sunshine? In Michigan? Your plants are delusional.

Nice mass of "shrubbery there".

You hitting the Saginaw show (Nov 30-Dec 1)?

That's the kind of growth I've been striving for. Looks great!

Paul,

Along the line of your comment, years ago when I was growing under lights, I took "Best of Show" in Toronto with a Paph. parishii. When the past president of our orchid society (who had also sent up a parishii) handed me my trophy he asked how I grew my orchids. When I told him I grew under lights he, somewhat indignantly, told me that parishii couldn't be grown and bloomed under lights.

I then asked him how much light his greenhouse grown orchids got in the winter (remember Michigan Sunshine?). Mine where under lights for 14hr./day. I'd kept track of the actual sunlight from Nov. till the end of Feb. and it amounted to approx. 5 weeks.
Nuf said!

As for the Saginaw show, I hadn't considered it. It wouldn't be out of the question, I'm due east on M-46.
