Default Reed Stem in Bloom - Camera Experiment

Just messing around with my camera over the weekend and decided to practice on this reed stem.

Often referred to as a beginner's plant.
That one is a real beauty and it also appears to be somewhat compact. Someone once suggested that keeping these plants compact is to cut the blooming stem about four inches from the base to allow for a new growth and prohibiting the keikis from growing on the old growth.
