Default DTPS: Tying Shin 'Champion'

Thanks for the nice comments all -- this is a great forum that doubly rewards one with inspiring sentiments as well as blooms!

Gage: Here's the photo you wanted of the red bloom: DTPS Tying Shin 'Champion'. Hope you enjoy.

Cheers all!

Holy cow! I'd never leave the house. Outstanding growing!

So I have to ask, what fertilizer are you using? How often do you fertilize? I'm using Schultz orchid fertilizer from a big box store, which I know is not the best option. I'm almost out and want to purchase a quality fertilizer or at least a proven one. Based on your photos and this bounty of blooms, I would consider your fertilizer "proven".

By the way, I love your orchid nook. Great display area and wonderful light.

Love it! Of course it's from Tying Shin, they have created such lovely reds!

Grasshopper: Here's the thing -- for the longest time all I used was Schultz as well. It seemed to work well enough for me (I fed weakly every time I watered, occasionally flushing out maybe once a month with just water). I've since moved over to Dyna Gro, which is a concentrated liquid and easier to work with than the powder. I use the 'Grow' formulation for periods when the plants are producing new leaves/growth, and 'Bloom' for when they start spike development and through the blooming cycle. I haven't really been doing it long enough to see any kind of difference -- I guess next year will tell the tale. I must say, though, that I much prefer working with the liquid fertilizers -- they dissolve much better and the powders always get lumpy/hard over time (such a pain). Anyway, happy growing!

Great growing! I'd ask when I could move in, but it looks like Mutant beat me to it.

I wish I had that many plants blooming in proportion to my collection. Hmmm, maybe if I didn't have to leave most of my plants with my parents while I'm at school...

Incredible! I wish I had a windowsill like that! Is that snow I see in the background? I love the contrast!
