ill get a setup picture tomorrow.. i bring in the orchids during the winter. put them out when it gets just warm enough i actually put them in the mini greenhouse with a heater. in the spring so that if it gets too cold at night the heater kicks in. i have a huge bay window in my room that i have shade cloth on. on a line so i can open during cloudy days close to a point on sunny depending on what the plants need.

such lovely flowers...like you, I also make it a point to take the orchids outdoors in the warmer months to let them feel the summer breeze and the vandas in particular loves the Manhattan humidity and heat

finally got part of my setup photo
ok all of my plants are in my bedroom. which is the size of a small studio apartment and in all actuallity. it is. . to the left you can see my stag-horn fern you can also see in the foreground my ginger wich is starting to go into dormancy (edible ginger)next to the fish tank the lump of blankets. that's my bed lol right next to the bed is my rack i got from the lows. i have quite a few of my orchids on it. phals below where they still get the light but not as strong.. my mounted plants hanging from the ends.. on top are all of my mounting planks (cedar shingles) and a big bag of coconut chips. just below them are the 2 sets of 4 florescent grow lights.. to the left. not too visible is my foldatable.. with my other orchids. my bay leaf tree my orange and kumquat.. forgot to mention the full size orange to the left.. with more orchids at its base.. and around it lol i even have a patchouli plant. and lemon grass..etc. these go back outside when the weather warms up.. but boy its nice to have all this greenery in the house in the cold dreary winter. lol the bay window is huge. you can only see half of it. i have another smaller window to the left and right to it. so plenty of evening light.. it over looks the acre pond. its pretty nice setup. the shadecloth is on a line so i can slide it closed or open depending on the light i need.

Very nice lil' jungle going on there! I was just able to get my larger trees, (bonsai), and some other plants back out from my crowded lanai. But like you, it is enjoyable to have a cup of tea among the plant life.
Best,
Tony

There must be something special about the weather for growing orchids in Missouri. This is the third plant that I have seen posted that is currently in bloom and I happened to have all three and they do not bloom for me until mid spring. Congratulations of the blooms.
By the way, this plant is extremely cold tolerant. Mine was outdoors last winter while I was gone for a while and it survived temperatures in the upper twenties with impunity.

what i do is as summer turns to fall ill let the plants stay outdoors.. unless its gona freze then its into the greenhouse. untill the temperature goes way too cold under 50 then they come in.. it seems to kick start them into a bloom cycle.. and it works like a charm for my phals.. as i always get blooms starting december to feb.
