Thank you. Most of my collection are noids, a boring topic to most growers, but I love them just the same.

Wow, you have some lovely blooms! It looks like there are more in bloom at one time than ones not in bloom.

Thank you. This time last year the weevils and thrips took over and ruined most of my spikes and blooms. After much searching I finally found a product, Talstar P, that effectively kills both pests without harming the chids. I'm delighted with the results.

Nice collection....made me think of which is better - a warm, humid climate where you can grow tropical-type orchids or a climate where you can grow all types, mostly indoors. For me the winner is your climate ! I am tired of the cold, though probably because I grew up in a warm climate like yours - at the moment I only have Hobson's choice!

Thank you. I suppose most climates have advantages and disadvantages. Florida Winters seem to be getting colder cold spells for longer periods of time and that's a problem when your an outdoor grower. Our Springs are generally dry and on into Summer it gets so hot and dry that it sparks wild fires. From June until November we're at risk for flooding and wind damage from tropical storms and hurricanes. When the storms are lengthy the chids suffer. I don't have supplemental indoor lighting so when the weather threatens I bring them all indoors, shove them near windows and pray for the best.
Having stated that, I'm amazed at how growers from less optimal climates create and maintain healthy environments for their chids. I don't know how you guys do it. It takes knowledge and a special talent to mimic mother nature.

That mutant den flower was awesome.
Have you figured out what the name of your unknown JVB vanda cross is?

Spectacular orchids, Junebug! It looks like a botanical garden. You open it up to the public and charge admission. Good growing.

Good show Junebug. Wonderful colors. I gave all of my dendrobiums away last year and I miss the nice display of blooms they provide in the fall. I just returned all of the plants that I had outside back to the greenhouse last week and I am still extremely crowded.

Nicely presented...and photographed...I envy you for living in a place where you can grow orchids outdoors...
