Autumn colors in my orchidarium

The absolutely stunning Lepanthopsis astrophora. Incredibly small and fragile looking. In close up it resembles a ruby. Amazing how it can survive in the wild.

Pleurothallis loranthophylla and Restrepia purpurea, notice the fly to the right. There has been tons of them for the whole summer. Planted a carnivorous plant to my setting but it didn't work, a house spider is my next project.

Love the minis. And you did a great job getting them to flower.

I have a mix that gets rid of bugs even flies drop from their perch when sprayed with it...its also safe and non-toxic

10 drops dish soap
1/2 teaspoon cinammon extract
2 cups tepid water

put it on a sptitzer and spray those flies

you must be doing something wonderful to make those orchids bloom
they look so fragile
good growing!

Thanks for the tip! Tried a similar one but with alcohol instead of cinammon outside. Thought about it but wasn't so keen on using alcohol. Will try it but first I'll see if the flies might work as pollinators for the Lepathopsis since they sure needs a small one

What type of cp did you try? For flies of that size, Droseras are usually best, IME.

Here are two more pics.
It's quite funny: What looks like a big piece of wood in the bottom of the second picture is actually a toothpick!

Paul: The CP I tried was a small Pitfall kind of plant. Strangely enough it dried up and died even though it was given quite moist conditions. Would like to try some Drosera and think they'll work better. More suitable as traps but also more suited in size and shape.
