Thank you. Yes, a spectabile's blooms are different to say the least. Their alien like blooms are not to everyone's liking, but I think they're awesome looking and they last a long time.
I like them, it just seemed that "lovely" was't quite the right adjective
I have a little seedling Den spectabile - I hope someday I can get it to bloom, but I can enjoy yours now
I love that one too. Hubby bought it along with another beautiful white w/purple lip den. for me about 3 years ago when we were at the flea market. They didn't have name tags. I thought to ask the vendor about their I.D. but she didn't have a good grasp of English and just said dendrobiums. SusieP has one that seems to be a dead ringer and her's is a Burana Jade something...
Den. spectabile is always such a stunning plant. My hubby thinks it looks like it's gone through the deep fat frier with that crinkled look. I love it
Thank you, Rosie. I think the shape of the flower is what turns off some growers, but the patterns and colors have amazing definition and character. It has a fragrance too and the blooms generally last about 6 weeks. This is one of my favorite chids in spite of it's contorted appearance.
