Default New from Andy's Orchids (lots of pics)

Years ago, when I lived in Richmond, VA, I had a plant of Zygostates alleniana. I moved to Durham, NC, to go to Grad School and the plant didn't survive the poor conditions of my apartment. Since then I've been looking for this plant, and last week I called Andy's Orchids. Andy, by the way, is about as friendly a person on the telephone as I've ever spoken to. Anyway, he had the plant, despite it not being listed on his site, and so I ordered two, shown here (the dime in the background shows the size of this species):

Plant #1:

Plant #2:

Andy, being a good salesman as well as a good talker, convinced me that I also needed a second species, also a miniature, to go with the Zygo. This one is Platyrhiza quadricolor. I'm really happy that he felt I needed it, because it's every bit as cool as the Zygo:

Thanks for looking!

Wow I can see why you had to find Zygo again! It is so cute! And the Platyrhiza quadricolor is very cool looking! I'll have to get both sometime!

Call Andy. And have your credit card at the ready because he'll find others you also simply can't live without!

Those are both just too cute.
What are the growing conditions ?
I'm hoping that you'll say they like bright warm conditions

I like it a lot. Do these fall under the Maxillaria Alliance by chance?

The Zygo likes warmth, but bright shade, and the Platy likes warm and intermediate shade. Both should do pretty well in with Phals, though if the Zygo gets a bit more light that's OK.

I've been presuming that they are closer to the Cattleya/Leilia area. Both are from South America.
