Some blooms to share
One of the people I work with at Cornell houses most of his orchid collection in one of the university's greenhouses. He's lucky that there is so much free space, he gets to use 2 entire compartments for his plants. Sadly he neglects them quite a bit. Most of the labels have faded away, the phals are badly suburned, and most are in dire need of repotting. He offered to give me a bunch of them, but the paperwork to get them back to Europe would be too costly.
So anyways, today I took some pictures of the blooming orchids. Spending time up in the greenhouse helps me get over my orchid withdrawal symptoms!
The first is a huge mounted plant, which I am nearly certain is a Brassavola nodosa. It's not in full bloom yet and I think it will be impressive once it is.
The second orchid is some sort of antelope type Den. I LOVE it, and it's one of the one's he offered me. An ID would be appreciated, because I intend to buy one as soon as I'm home!
The third is some sort of Stanhopea. Any ideas on ID? He has a couple dozen Stanhopea, none of which are labeled.

WOW! they are all beautiful! I can see why you like that Den (?) so much - it's lovely! Glad you are getting an orchid fix!

My guesses: Brassavola nodosa, Den. antennatum, Stanhopea wardii. That last is a total guess - I don't know how taxonomy on Stanhopeas works, they are variable, and there are tons of hybrids... Regardless, Stanhopeas are nice and they're easy (lots and lots of water!).

Thanks. I looked up antelope Dens and thought it might be antennatum, but was also thinking it might be a hybrid of it. Now I just have to track down an EU vendor that sells it!

Those are great pics Camille. Glad you have some place to get your fix too. I would love to see a picture(s) of the rest of that greenhouse if you get a chance

I agree that the Den. is probably antennatum or a hybrid thereof. I have Samarai (stratiotes x antennatum) that looks very similar. I gave a large plant to a society member last year but I still have another and I could share a division with you if you can't find one. The flowers can last up to five months during cool weather. I am attaching a couple of pictures for you to see.
