Stunning doesn't quite adequately describe your orchids in bloom and the health and diversity of the surounding plants

I am surprised at the size of the blooming D. anosmum. What length are the canes? I have a seedling with the longest canes being probably only 15-20cm

Don't know about this one, but mine have canes approx 50cm. This year's growth is already nearly half of last year's since switching to daily fertilizing and higher light intensity. They still have at least 5 months more growing. I have seen some with canes nearly 6 feet (about 2 meters) long with hundreds of blossoms.

Faerygirl - great display. You have a knack for this stuff I can see.

Beautiful getaway you have created there. It is a great example of why we grow gardens and orchids in the first place. Have you named it yet? Or is the name just a fleeting notion that you get when you decide to go out there? Almost a feeling.

Mine run whatever outside temps are during summer growth season. They spen the summer under a white lawn umbrella on my deck and get daily watering. I move them to house (south window) in September so they get high 60s/low 70s in house till winter. They go dormant rest about Halloween and stay dry (totally) till new growth pops out in spring (usually about Feb.) They hang right up next to window screen in south window with CF lights next to them. Temps during winter run about 60F at night/67-68F during day (sometimes a bit higher.) Hope this helps.

By the way, I'm not sure where in Fla you live, but if you ever get to the Fla Power plant where the manatees hang during the winter (south of Tampa) there is a large greenhouse right across the highway from the turnoff to the FPCo parking. That is where I saw the really big anosmums in bloom.

No, I know that place. This is the estuary for Florida Power south of Tampa a bit, just north of Ruskin. The whole thing is operated by Florida Power and the stacks are the background. Anyway, there is a large nursery across 41 (can't remember the name.) This is your target. Well worth the visit just to see some awsum plants (very expensive!)
