Thank you. For an established mount I generally water once a day, sometimes twice when it's really hot and dry. My new mounts get watered at least twice a day
A word of caution if you've never mounted Phals....Be mentally prepared to loose a few leaves while the plant is adjusting. I've found that the whole process is much easier and the plant adjusts better if it has lots of aerial roots to begin with.
The Phal in the photo was an emergency mount because the weight of its leaves had caused it to spill from it's pot. Last April the mishap broke her spike and all the roots were damaged or broken. To make matters worse, the roots that were left were not aerial. She looked great when she was freshly mounted. To compensate for the root loss I watered her 3 times a day, but that still wasn't enough. Over the next 2 or 3 months she lost 6 of her oldest leaves. It was sad to see this happen but I was encouraged when she began putting out fresh roots. This began happening a few weeks after being mounted. Gradually she developed a new healthy root system and all the old roots died.
