OK, JK.... I wasn't going to post any pictures just yet because things are opening so slowly this year... maybe because I have the thermostat turned down so low... And before I post these, I'm not stealing JK's thread... we're just having some fun...so get over it!
OK, let's take a trip out to the G/H....
I sure wish I knew the name of this beauty!
Lots of you have this guy...
Ok, I have six more to post tomorrow.... What??? you thought I'd put all the flowers in one basket!!! So you'll have to come back tomorrow to see the rest!

OK, Howard, it's on now, bro! I'll shoot the ones I left off the previous post and add them in tomorrow, too.
(Oh, and yours are wonderful, too!)
(( A PS: Unlike lucky Howard, I don't have a greenhouse. ))

Wow you two!!! I'm jealous! Spectacular shows, both of you!
I only have two phals in spike at the moment (besides the two that arrived in spike, which are at home *tear*). My usually dependable white NOID grew two leaves (instead of the usual one) and the barest beginnings of a spike, but it hasn't developed further. Probably some difference between my care and that of my parents, who took over for me this year. My bastianii was showing a hint of swelling when I went home for Christmas, but I didn't want to risk moving it and causing the buds to blast for the third time, and it's roots looked happier in western Washington humidity, so it stayed home.
Question, John: When do stuartianas typically spike? I know it's a spring bloomer, but how long does it take for the spike to develop? Should it have started to spike by now?

It's all your fault, JK... you started this with those pictures of your beautiful flowers....
Evan, my Phal schilleriana...almost sister to stuartiana... has spikes about 4" ~ 5" at this point. Hope to see flowers maybe by late March.... so hang in there!

How many spikes does your Phal schilleriana have Doc? I've got three of the darn things and can't get a spike on any of them! Def. doing something wrong.

Al, this is what we look like today... I am somewhat disappointed with the spikes and the way the leaves look... it has had better days!

Evan, typically my stuartianas begin to set spikes in late, late fall or early winter, then are blooming by about February or March. But that's only my experience, and I suspect others may have a slightly different timetable. I know that the one you have has bloomed previously, so be patient with it!
