yeppers the last pic is a Trichoglottis philippinensis species...after the rose its not a vanda but a Mokara Chark Kuan 'pink'...next is a Vanda Chao Phraya...the next picture is too dark...but next to it is a Vanda Bankok Blue(pictures posted 12/24/2009)

I envy your collection! Its as if you got those vandas for a song! less than a dollar ! And they are all of blooming sizes! Some of your vandas are more than 10 yrs old...grrrr! and very happy healthy plants....

Here's the list of species I bought there:

Grammatophyllum speciosum
Dendrobium junceum
Coelogyne usitana
Rhyncostylis retusa
Dendrobium macrophyllum
Vanda lamellata (unsure about var)
Vanda lamellata var boxallii
Vanda ustii (Kuya Ely sold it very cheap)
Staurochilus luzonensis
Dendrobium taurinum
Dendrobium bullenianum
Grammatophyllum multiflorum var tigrinum

and other identified genus.

I'm planning to go there later and if I can't find anything that interest me then I'll head to MSB.

Thanks for reminding me. Hoping to bring home a cheap Vanda sanderiana alba during the event

Mabuhay!

hi there zildjian. I'm residing in molino 5, bacoor. Then this coming Sunday, my friends and I will be going to the orchid show at around 10am. Unfortunately, makoldoy will not be able to join us because he has prior commitments.

Anyway, i've noticed that you're somewhere in gen. trias area, how's the orchid hunting overthere? Whenever i would go to Tagaytay, i always notice the line ups of garden/plant store along the way.

thanks mujacko for the reply. i'm glad to know orchid lover from cavite.

mostly phals schilleriana species only and the rest of orchids are dendro and phals hybrid. one seller in centris of species have a farm here in Silang and I get my phal species from there. Sad to say it is really hard to bloom the phal species in my place. i'm very close to tagaytay & silang but my climate is totally different because they are in an elevation much higher than general trias. looks like i need to bring the phals back to tagaytay to bloom

anyway, i hope you can give me tips and assistance as well when going to baclaran. i have a feeling that it's much cheaper there than in msbf.

Its always a delight to know someone from the same place. The pleasure is all mine.

Yup, regarding P.S. i believe that it will only bloom in cold places like Baguio and Tagaytay and especially when there is a sudden drop in temp around 10 degrees celsius. (According to a very seasoned orchidist also in Cavite, i forgot her name though. they have a place in MSB).

Maybe if you have time, we could sometime meet at SM Dasmarinas and help me explore the number of garden stores in your area.

I sent you a PM about my contact number. Anyway, if you want to visit Baclaran just let me know so that I can arrange my schedule. But if you want the expert, that would be Makoldoy, he knows the people in Baclaran and MSB. People that we can acquire varieties at a very reasonable price.

Anyway, hoping to see you this Sunday. thanks

Godbless

Certainly you'll find a lot of den. species there and the most common den species you might find there are den. secundum and crumenatum (those old ladies, starting from Max's restaurant that sell plants seems to have an unlimited stock of those orchids).I also suggest that you take a look at Balana's store or look for Ate Neria or Kuya Ely. Most of my assorted species came from them.

I advise that you do some research about the plant you're looking for (at least the leaf/stem structure if the plant is bloomless). For example dendrobium macrophyllum you can easily identify the plant even without flowers by looking at the ridged pseudobulb and cattleya-like leaf appearance. And before I forget, be careful when encountering with dishonest vendors there and try to lowball their products to get a nice and cheap deal hehehe.

Again sorry for my bad english (PM na lang if meron pang ibang question)
