Mabuhay!

Thank you all for the kind words.

Wow, its been raining for the past 2 days now. Anyway, its both a blessing and a challenge because we all know the potential outbreaks continuous rain can bring to our orchids of course aside from massive floods and landslides.

anyhow, just wanna share...

Default Updates and one special orc

Mabuhay!

Well, the sun has been shining for quite sometime now and i'm happy eventhough its hot again. Anyway, one of my cattleyas is in bloom, an aeride is gearing up for its first bloom......

and my new baby just bought this for around $5 my grammatophyllum speciosum. Yes, i know you know what's a phalaenopsis is, i am referring to the tall one with a sugar-cane type stalk. hehehehehee. Anyway, i hope it'll thrive there and flower too.

Godbless everyone.:bowing

Good pm Uly, to whom you bought your speciosum? That looks much bigger than the one I bought a couple of months ago. I pot my speciosum in a bucket with lots of drain holes filled with rocks and charcoal. Seems doing fine since.

BTW I'll be in Centris this coming sunday to buy some species in Sunday Market. They bargain their plants during closing time and the last time I was there I bought an specimen sized Vanda Miss Joaquim for only P300 and it has 10 stems in total.

And about your speciosum, one vendor there is selling his indeed huge sized gramma for P1500/$35+ with lots of bloom and long canes. I'm sure even if you like and find it cheap (which is true, really cheap) bringing it home would be a big hassle haha.

Mabuhay!

@joecel, I bought this speciosum from the far-end of the Baclaran Garden Strip (no pun intended). It comes from Bicol they said. Actually, this is my 4th time to acquire a GS, my first time was really expensive from MSB. I tried putting it in a pot but it just died on me maybe because of to much water while the 3rd one was showing signs of survival but my dog got it first . this is my 4th time and now, i am treating it like my other grammas and oncidiums where water will not be able to reach easily. And i guess, it will love the sunshine it receives, i just hope that the tree i put it on will be able to carry its weight when fully grown.

I think we are talking about the same vendor, initially when the flowers were fresh it was pegged at 2500. But i haven't seen it again when i bought the GS. Actually, i haven't been to Centris but i am saving my moolah for the Garden and Orchid Show on August 26 to Sept 06 at QC Hall. I am hoping to see you there bro.

this is my other gramma.

keep in touch. Godbless

Perhaps it's Kuya Ely or Ate Neria. Do they have any vandaceous type there?

Mabuhay!

@makaldoy...im terrible with names but i never forget a face. Anyway, i'll ask for their numbers next time i go there. Actually, i went back there just today and all of the GS were gone. All what is left were a few ferns and some orchids that i already have. There was no vandas.

Anyway, i texted you last time because i have a new number but you never text me back.

Godbless

I'm out of load that time hehe felt sorry for that.

Anyway I'm so tempted to buy this GS awhile ago in Centris. Is this cheap for P400? ($9.5)

It's so bulky with long canes and really inconvenient taking it home thru public transportation.

Oh I also like to share what I bought there.

First three plants are sold for 3-for-P100

Phal. intermedia

Den. macrophyllum

Unknown Den. specie in spike (tiny blooms as seller told)

Staurochilus intermedius (Luzon native) - P50

Dendrobium species (forgot the name sorry) - P50

unknown genus (for me) - P150
